During the journal’s first three years, published work is free to read and authors pay no submission fee or article-processing charge.

You keep copyright

Authors choose the Creative Commons terms that govern reuse, retain copyright unless they select CC0, and grant the journal the right of first publication.

Real review

Research receives reviewer-anonymous peer review: reviewer identities are withheld from authors, while author identities may be visible. Creative work is read by editors and any additional reviewers appropriate to the form.

What you will need

Gathering these first makes the submission straightforward. Files are uploaded to private storage as you add them, and the account draft saves as you work.

A manuscriptAuthor names and affiliations may remain. Remove or alter patient, participant, and other private identifying details unless you have appropriate publication consent.
A separate title pageComplete author details, affiliations, and acknowledgements for the submission record
Category-specific detailsA structured abstract up to 350 words for research; poem and line counts for poetry; or a visual-work statement up to 250 words
Co-author detailsNames, credentials, emails, affiliations, countries, and ORCID iDs where available
Ethics and consent detailsThe reviewing body and protocol number where applicable, plus the publication-consent status; retain supporting documents rather than uploading them
An applicable reporting guidelineFor research, identify the standard appropriate to the design; a completed checklist may be uploaded as an additional file
Reviewer suggestionsResearch authors may suggest qualified, conflict-free reviewers; suggestions are optional

Eight checked steps

You can return to an earlier step at any time. The portal applies each category’s hard limits before moving forward and runs the complete check again before generating the final PDF.

Category & scope
Choose your category and tell us which of our four pillars the work engages, then confirm the submission checklist.
Files
Upload your manuscript, title page, tables, figures, and any applicable reporting checklist directly to private storage, labelling what each file is. Later answers do not add new file requirements.
Manuscript details
Title, abstract, keywords, length, and any category-specific length, structure, statement, and count requirements.
Authors & affiliations
Every contributor in published order, with affiliations, contact details, and ORCID iDs where available.
Declarations
Enter publication-ready ethics, consent, funding, competing-interest, generative-AI, and data-availability statements. These replace corresponding manuscript text.
Copyright & licence
Choose the reuse terms and confirm the right of first publication. You keep the copyright unless you deliberately select the CC0 public-domain dedication.
Suggested reviewers
Recommend readers who can engage the work, and name anyone you would prefer we avoid.
Final Confirmation
Generate the combined PDF, review every page, approve the exact revision and checksum, then submit it.

What happens to the confirmed record

Final validation
The server repeats the guideline checks and verifies that the approved PDF belongs to the current draft revision.
Editorial record
The confirmed metadata and immutable files are transferred to the journal’s editorial system as one auditable submission.
Category review
Research follows reviewer-anonymous peer review: reviewer identities are withheld from authors, while author identities may be visible to reviewers. Creative and critical work follows editorial and craft review appropriate to the form.
Author correspondence
Decisions, revision requests, and production communication remain attached to the submission record.
