Using the Ethos EM website and author service

Appropriate use

You may use the site to read journal information, manage your own account, prepare and submit work you are authorized to submit, and participate in an editorial process in which you have a legitimate role.

You may not attempt to access another person’s account or confidential material; bypass access controls; test the service for vulnerabilities without written authorization; upload malware; disrupt the service; misrepresent an identity, affiliation, authorship, consent, or permission; scrape personal or confidential information; or use the service in a way that violates law or another person’s rights.

Accounts and security

Provide accurate account information and keep it current. Each person should use their own account and protect its credentials. Notify the editorial office promptly if you believe an account or submission has been accessed without authorization.

Ethos EM may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, confidential submissions, the editorial record, or the service. An account restriction does not determine the merits of a submission.

Submissions

You retain ownership of submitted work. Uploading a draft gives Ethos EM permission to store, process, reproduce, and share it only as reasonably necessary to administer review, production, integrity checks, and the scholarly record. A final publication license is selected and confirmed separately in the submission process.

You represent that you are authorized to submit the work and contributor information, including each author’s current email address, that required authors have agreed, and that the submission complies with the author guidelines and editorial policies. Ethos EM may use those addresses to notify named authors, connect verified accounts to an author-safe tracking record, collect article-specific corrections and declarations, and communicate editorial milestones. Submission does not guarantee review, acceptance, publication, a particular timeline, an identifier, or inclusion in an external index.

Journal content and intellectual property

The license displayed with an individual published work governs reuse of that work. Site design, branding, policies, and administrative content that do not carry a separate license may not be reproduced in a way that implies endorsement, affiliation, or an official copy of the journal.

Names, logos, trademarks, privacy rights, publicity rights, and third-party material may remain protected even when an article uses a Creative Commons license. Users are responsible for determining whether their intended reuse requires additional permission.

No medical advice

Ethos EM publishes scholarship, commentary, narrative, and creative work for educational and scholarly purposes. Site content is not a substitute for professional medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, supervision, institutional policy, or emergency services. Clinical decisions should be based on appropriate professional judgment and current authoritative sources.

External services and links

The journal workflow may link to services operated by the Texas Digital Library, ORCID, Creative Commons, and other organizations. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. A link is provided for context or workflow and does not imply endorsement of every statement, product, or service on the destination site.

Service availability and changes

We take reasonable steps to keep the site secure and available, but maintenance, provider outages, security events, or circumstances beyond the journal’s control may interrupt access. Authors should keep their own copies of manuscripts, figures, correspondence, and supporting records.

These terms may be updated when the service or governing policies change. The current version and effective date will appear on this page. A material change affecting an active submission will be communicated when reasonably necessary.

Governing rules and contact

These terms are interpreted under applicable United States and Texas law, without limiting rights that cannot lawfully be waived. If one provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
